Sunday, 1 April 9:30pm at Silbando (Förrlibuckstrasse 62) in Zürich

Their names are Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holiday, Josephine Baker, Nina Simone and many others. Their voices and their performance on stage inspired many other singers, dancers and artists and they left their mark musically and stylistically not only on the Swing era but also on its legacy.

Sunday’s party is an homage to these women who formed, developed and most of all sang and played the Swing. We are extremely grateful to welcome a grand Lady of Swing on stage on Sunday and we are sure that Cherise Adams-Burnett together with Palace Avenue Swing will enchant listeners and dancers alike.

Band: Palace Avenue Swing feat. Cherise Adams-Burn
Swing DJ's: Our residents and of course, our special guest DJ Stephan Wuthe from Berlin!

Ladies: Sunday is your night. Be inspired by the Ladies of Swing in whatever way you can think of. Elegance is well appreciated. You are welcome to copy Ella’s or Billie’s or Nina’s style or you can also simply add accessories such as fresh our faux flowers (Billie Holiday), banana motives (Josephine Baker), a pearl necklace (e.g. Ella Fitzgerald) or an African head wrap (Nina Simone).

You may find inspiration here and here and here.

Gentlemen: On Sunday you are the Ladies charming companion and – of course – a gentleman. Let yourself inspire by the Grand Gentlemen of Swing, who played and danced side by side with the Ladies. There is Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Louis Armstrong, Chick Webb or Cab Calloway amongst many others.
A white tissue (Chick Webb for example) or a white flower (Benny Goodman) in your shirt pocket is definitely a start. Or be a bit more bold and wear a white tuxedo (Cab Calloway). If you want to be more extravagant wear a leopard jacket (Duke Ellington).

Please note: On Sunday evening you may also but don’t have to dress a bit more casual. However, Jeans, sneakers, track suit trousers etc. are still a no go. Everyday clothes stay home please.
