Broadway, refers to the theatrical performances presented in the 41 professional theatres, each with 500 or more seats, located in the Theater District and Lincoln Center along Broadway, in Midtown Manhattan, New York City.” (Source: Wikipedia)

The Broadway Theatres in New York have a long history. At the Saturday Party, we will indulge ourselves in the atmosphere and the glamour of the Broadway in the 1930ies and 1940ies. Let your imagination take you to one of the many famous theatre buildings – the 46th Street Theatre, the Winter Garden Theatre or the Majestic Theatre. Inside, entertainment, music and glamour await you. Plays with names such as “South Pacific”, “Harvey” and “Arsenic and Old Lace” are staged in front of an enthusiastic and splendidly dressed audience.

The one play we all still know from its movie adaptation is of course “Hellzapoppin”, starring legendary Whitey’s Lindy Hoppers.

Prepare yourself for a night of superlatives and extravaganza and show off your evening suit or dress, inspired by 1930ies and 1940ies fashion.

DRESSCODE
Get inspired by the elegance of the late 1930ies and early 1940ies.

Please note: We won’t check your every accessory for 30ies or 40ies authenticity and we certainly won’t ask you to buy an expensive dress/suit for the party! But we expect you to come dressed up elegantly and suitably. Jeans, sneakers, track suit trousers and T-shirts are a no-go. Our doorman is entitled to send you home, right away to get changed if you show up in your everyday clothes.

Dressing up means contributing to the unique atmosphere at our parties. The party location provides a small dressing room with a small mirror in case you need to change after your arrival. Thank you.

…For the Ladies it was common to wear a smart dress, belted around the waist. High waist pants for ladies were popular, too, maybe combined with a beret as worn by Marlene Dietrich. Other hats of many different shapes were worn too, although some women preferred the 30ies snood. And why not try some shoulder pads…?

… For the Gentlemen it was suits, suits and suits again, be it striped or plain, brown or black, all is welcome. We’d love to see a few Fedoras, Ivy Caps and Boaters or any of the other.
