Saturday, 15 April 9:30pm at Silbando (Förrlibuckstrasse 62) in Zürich

It was during the time called the Harlem Renaissance that Elmer Simms Campbell published his elaborately cheeky “Night Club map of Harlem”. With much love for details, Campbell added insightful information about night clubs, music shows, spots to get a drink (towards the end of prohibition) and so on… Much was speculated on “What’s de numbah?”, a sentence which appears in several different places on the map.

The drawing inspired us to put the Streets of Harlem on the map for our Saturday’s party as well. Natty Congeroo & the Flames of Rhythm will sing under the Harlem Moon, and although we haven’t planned a breakfast dance yet, you can be sure that the music played by DJ Wuthe and others will last until early in the morning.

Live on stage: Natty Congeroo & the Flames of Rhythm

Swing DJ's: Our residents and of course, our special guest DJ Stephan Wuthe from Berlin!

DRESSCODE:
Get inspired by the 1930ies or even the 40ies. In many a household coins were rare but people still dressed elegantly.

For the Ladies: A smart dress, belted around the waist or with an open back is just one of many options. High waist pants for ladies were popular, too, maybe combined with a Beret as worn by Marlene Dietrich. Other hats of many different shapes were worn, too although some women preferred the 30ies snood. And why not try some shoulder pads…?

For the Gentlemen: It is suits, suits and suits again, be it striped or plain, brown or black, all is welcome. We’d love to see a few Fedoras, Ivy caps and Boaters or any of the otherhttp://vintagedancer.com/1930s/mens-hat-styles-of-the-1930s/.

Please note: We won’t check your every accessory for 30ies and 40ies authenticity. But we expect you to come dressed up elegantly and suitably. Jeans, sneakers, track suit trousers and t-shirts are a no-go. And yes, our doorman is entitled to send you home, right away to change if you show up in your everyday clothes!

To dress up means to contribute to the unique atmosphere at our parties. The party location provides a small dressing room with a small mirror in case you need to change after your arrival.

Where to get your dress

Vintage shops, Brockenhaus or second hand stores might be a good place to buy affordable dresses.
